Woodland Retreat Restoreth My Soul

O’ woodland retreat restoreth my soul,
when a wayward arrow pierces my heart,
let me abide within my nook
to find the peace that so quickly
is snatched away.

Woodland Retreat Restoreth My Soul

Let thy serene beauty
and quiet sounds of water and birds
comfort me, surround me with your
knowing and understanding ways
in this abode where love and caring abounds.

I send a plea to the Mother,
help me return to thy arms
and know where I have failed,
open mine eyes like a newborn babe,
so I may once again feel the spiritual bond.

Let me be akin to the running water,
which flows so gently on its path,
and changes the course
when barriers are reached,
then carries on to better ways.

The spiritual bond that keeps me connected
to all the beauty and love
within this thy peaceful sanctuary,
let the trials and struggles to come
be overcome with trust and faith.

Heal the sorrow that has touched my soul,
let me not go forth till the right path
is revealed to me,
when once again I may walk in love and beauty,
O’ Woodland Retreat Restoreth My Soul
O’ Mother, let me walk in love and beauty.

I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am a freelance writer for Fiverr. I am currently an author on HubPages, a member/author of the Maven Coalition, and Senior Editor and an author for The Creative Exiles. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.

A well penned affirmation of that spiritual connection to life. Warm and sensitively expressed Phyllis. Lovely work.

We all need a retreat and yours is spiritually bound. An affirmation such as what you penned here not only connects you to life but to mother nature herself. There is so much peace found in it. You have found yours Phyllis, peace and blessings I send you this day.
