Staring Down Eternity

Staring Down Eternity
Staring Down Eternity

If I could just stare down eternity,
and with certainty grasp the plan,
what a soul earns in time and placement,
the driving of circumstance to an arraignment
of the judgement at hand,
and sidestep the coarse lives,
the painful and distraught lives I’ll have,
to glean what I need to arrive at the place I should be,
when this soul no longer needs a plight,
just being without question
my place of right.

If only the stars spoke back,
relented on this silent treatment,
while my heart sings and open I’ll imbibe everything,
just to know what now offends,
the lack of clarity hardly my friend,
when I plea for some advice,
some hope more than I can derive
from a spiritual knowing,
and clear weather days just chilled and snowing
despite my polite intentions,
my passionate interventions.

Patient I remain, if not a little frustrated,
the whole of it, machinations I must know,
for how else will I be bestowed the truth,
the universal ruse now taunting my senses,
the lies and covert alliances to prove
there’s a lot more going on to soothe my curiosity,
if only a door would open,
some mystical knowledge arrive
or some alien ship to collect me and set me straight,
for I just cannot wait much longer,
I’ll be dead before the page turns.

If I could just be given a pass,
not for any other reason than to know,
a task my soul demands,
with everything at hand,
and is it too much to ask,
some clarity for a mind
smart enough to know the truth in sheep’s clothing,
and still those stars just stare back, my hopes dashed,
and maybe even a giggle or too, I can feel it,
the distance tempers not my frustration,
laughing at my whiny human voice,
like an antenna blurting some parody
desperate for attention.

Perhaps I lack retention?

All in good time my poet, they say the book of knowledge slowly opens and the wonders of eternal life and much more slowly unfolds before the eyes of the chosen. Impatience is a virtue for some, but like you my friend, I want all the answers now:-) Yet I know in good time they will be revealed and like Steve Jobs last words, I hope to also say Wow, Wow, Wow, well penned my poet, I truly believe you have already begun your journey, it shows in your penmanship. Cheers
