Bereft of the nurture I once new,
without the heart of love I once construed,
I have found my giving renewed,
my loving soul’s true path.
Tis not the love bestowed that open hearts,
its the love given freely that starts
a process of acceptance to impart,
this ideal that transcends all.
It’s giving that abides love, not receiving,
not the doe-eyed responses of self experience,
but the unconditional giving of love the difference,
for its very own sake.
In sharing we fall in love,
yet without the surrender of complete giving,
there can be no authentic receiving,
a sacrifice for another soul, believing.
There must be equity, a balance,
but if a hundred percent is absent
there can never be longevity,
never achieve a happy ending.
Love is a mystery, often elusive,
imbalance marks endings inconclusive,
as one sees the difference,
and questioning forges division.
It’s either all or nothing in the stakes of love,
either surrender or move on,
for without two sides of complete giving
cracks soon appear, and so do misgivings.
Its no secret this simple truth,
two souls aligned, in tune,
living in harmony, each other before themselves
in consideration, within love’s ideal.
Giving alone creates response,
not expected but in balance connected,
and it is far better to love freely,
than to deal it out in measure.
For that is not love at all
simply a sought equity in sharing,
where a heart is limited, restricted
and not free at all.
