Convex My Armor, Concave My Fears

Convex My Armor, Concave My Fears
Convex My Armor, Concave My Fears

Convex my armor, concave my fears,
and in the panic of confusion
my rising response austere,
as in human flesh I struggle,
with imperfect mind I abhor,
all the questions I am yearning,
all my answers are ignored,
as I flounder in regret, remorse,
those resounding repetitive battles,
that saw my fall and worse,
comeback to haunt my consciousness,
and often deviate my course.

I wish my armour stronger,
I wish my core more secure,
to be open to any providence,
without the blood-letting I so fear,
it is plain the flesh bows to the mind,
the struggle less physical, the war in kind,
as I deliberate the path I choose,
conflict the struggle I try to refuse,
myself and I always opposed,
my disarray more proven,
exacerbated and losing,
this conflict I’m confusing.

Straight my intentions,
bent my burdened form,
as I travail the paths once discerned,
by those who came before; and sensitive I am
aligned more to a passive stand,
as they rise so stark and constantly,
I must face my dark commands,
and I wish the answers were obvious,
my questions to unlock their gifts,
but often in my meagre capacity,
all I create is rifts; as I am human,
a potential not yet realised.

Convex my armour, concave my fears,
and struggle is my earthly plight,
in joy, mistake and tears,
yet I must question every moment,
know just who I am,
to determine my chosen pathway,
to the life I must program,
and despite my imperfections,
my sensitive vulnerable soul,
I must tread where angels fear to tread,
for the embracing of my whole,
the realisation of my potential.

Realizing our potential is a life-long struggle. Tony, I admire the fact that you never give up on yourself to ever grow and become more of who you are. It is a pleasure to read such verses from you. Great work dear friend. Take care.

Great work Tony, yours first stanza sums up how I have traversed through this life of mine. A lot of questioning and no resounding solid answers I ever receive. I too being human flounder about in ignorance, simply trying to go with the flow of this life. My armor has gotten tighter to my form, I rarely let anyone in anymore for fear it will all end badly. If people could only be more honest and forthright with their intentions, there may not be as many of us kicked to the sidelines of life. Caution is my motto and test everything and everybody. I walk a fine line in this Disturbia world. Cheers my friend.

Again, we are kindred spirits, very much the same life on many levels Vincent. That’s why we relate so much to each other’s work. I guess the danger is being synical to the point where we miss good opportunities, but like you I am very particular about friendships. Its not because I’m paranoid, its because I see too much of what people are like and able to avoid the eventual problems. My choice, and yours, and we can still love and feel life on many levels, still longing for that one to one realtionship of worth. Lets hope we can find it my friend, Take care.
