The Perception That Transforms

Beauty still reaches the heart with effervescence,
a sense of wonderment and appreciation,
yet soured are the days by ugly thoughts
and those oblivious to the natural world,
who go through life in aspirations of shallow worth,
striving for self and possessions, status and power,
and who, in their process, hurt innocents
as an acceptable collateral damage.
I find it hard to accept such disrespect for life,
souls lost to narcissistic realms
when we live in a natural paradise,
and the harmony of acceptance and sharing
is far more rewarding than the trinkets of hoarding,
the proffered gains of capitalism,
when we are surrounded by extraordinary life
in endless forms.
I just do not understand how shallow people can be,
how blind to truth any person who can justify lies as truth
and see not the compromise they make,
the sacrifice of humility and all that inspires
lost to delusions of self-importance,
and by their undying loyalty to greed
they remain tethered like slaves
to their misguided beliefs.
Simplicity is all one needs,
to see just how fortunate we are,
and for whatever we think we lack,
appreciating what we have placates that wanting,
as life gives us what we need
and our thoughts create what we want,
in the simplicity of our thoughts,
in the appreciation and acceptance of life.
Beauty is not just a vision or thought,
but a paradigm, a seeking out the beauty in all things,
not limited by judgement, but open
to the inherent beauty is all aspects of existence,
a viewpoint one learns from opening eyes
and delving deeper into the nature of life,
these abilities ours to utilize
in the simplifying of our perspective.
The joy of life is neither sought nor attained,
it is a state of mind, an open heart
and eyes to see what we have already,
and that appreciation is gifted to us
out of the simplicity of vision,
where details are pealed back to reveal
the core of what life is,
and what it can be for us within it.

I fail to understand how some will choose the selfish, negative ways rather than appreciating the gifts of nature, the beauty in this world and the sky above. Wonderful verse, Tony. Take care dear friend.
