When Pain Subsides…
Expectant, the trials and tribulations of life,
yet unexpected the extent of suffering
we instill in our own lives, by our own hands,
overlooking right for advantage,
mistakes from a selfish vantage point.
Ignorant we may be to the flow of life,
the thoughts and manifestations of strife,
that hone the lessons we must learn,
the recompense for wrong
just a warning for our discernment.
Yet so often we continue,
oblivious to the venues we repeatedly align,
and each time suffer the same results,
when truly we should understand
the ramification of our stubborn commands.
When will we realise, life is not about all we want,
its about assimilation, sharing and not
being the center of all plays, we are
just another participant in life’s journey of learning,
experience needed but not betrayed.
Suffering is not punishment,
but another state of being, to be understood,
and ultimately not blamed but accepted,
and in that perception, in our weakened state,
we aspire to be happy, even within this landscape of struggle.
We then transcend the suffering,
and it becomes something else, a burden yes,
but not the breaking of us, rather a lesson
of perception and acceptance
that uplifts the soul.
Slowly we learn how our decisions
create circumstance, and often suffering,
and knowing that we change, we rearrange
our thinking to no longer require the pain,
for we remain happy regardless, grateful for what we have.
Life’s undulations can be experienced in many ways,
yet with understanding and acceptance
we can transcend that pain,
perceive it as necessary in learning
and with a profound knowing, find peace within.

I find great benefit in your ‘life lessons’ such as this piece, Tony. For years struggling and living in pain was my life. Over the last few years I have been slowly learning that to do without so many things is really not so bad after all. Over the last few months I find survival and happiness is possible when what is desired is not possible, because a loss, or not having what I want, is not a tragedy, it is “rather a lesson of perception and acceptance that uplifts the soul.” Great work Tony. Thank you for this. Take care.
So pleased you related as this is an important lesson in life. We so judge what we experience, deeming it good and bad. Every experience is necessary and the more we accept them and not let them dominate out thoughts, the easier they become. How we suffer or live in joy is ours to create. Happiness has nothing to do with anything other than a choice, regardless. Take care.
PS. Do you have to wait long for your procedure? It will be fine and over with quickly.
Thank you for asking, Tony, and for your support. My doctor has referred me to a surgeon and on Monday I will contact him and make the appointment.
