Despite the knowledge gleaned,
we are only as good as our last thought,
proving unequivocally we are flawed beings,
driven between two extremes,
circumstances like changing gears,
interfering with our dreams.
We can never be perfect,
as we are innately inept,
but it is our striving to the positive
that gives us hope,
and scope to aspire to our beliefs,
accepting both fault and potential.
Humility in the face of accomplishment
is an intelligent stance,
for we are never as good as we think,
errant thoughts haunt our sentient minds
like buzzards circling,
awaiting that last gasp of breath.
Rather than measure ourselves,
compare and critique our aspiring minds,
it is a waste of time,
for continuity is the proof,
the changes that elude to our ascendancy,
rather that the peaks and troughs of our responses.
The measures are all our own,
life ambivalent, unconcerned,
as what we are is or is not,
and living just proves the plot of our path,
as we travail the undulations
that test our heart and soul.
Focus on the living, forget the critiquing,
we rise we fall, we get up and start over,
as it is the doing that attests our worth,
not medals to prove our attainment,
but the moment to moment kindness
the very heart of us that’s important.
Different paths simply display our needs to learn,
different levels of being and growing,
incomparable in time, just sharing,
on the same plain of existence;
so comparison is futile, blame and judgement
the ruse of ignorance minds.
I watch with wonder the unfolding of lives,
some so malicious with intent,
other so warm with empathy,
and nothing really parts us in reality’s potential,
just life ensuing in different times
and stages of growth.
