Looking Beyond the Measure

Looking Beyond the Measure
Looking Beyond the Measure

Other worlds beckon an inquiring soul,
one that sees reality more than the obvious,
and life it seems as it appears,
is but a speck of an unforeseeable whole;
so as we traverse this path of life,
limitations bind us to our expectations,
when life is vast and incorporates far more
than we see in the dimness of our light.

We extrapolate, we mediate,
we commiserate our ineptitude,
for our visions are so minuscule within
the endless reach of the life we sate;
and yet we see so little,
the void of knowledge perhaps our relenting,
ignoring the infinite possibilities,
to somehow grasp and accept our ending.

But fear cannot be our alibi,
to see beyond and simplify our dreams,
so we may hold possibility like a newborn child,
feed and nurture its eternal rhyme;
and intrepid those who walk beyond horizons,
open minded of the impossibilities
afforded in life,
where impossible is just another miracle, in time.

There is a world beyond this world,
many sights never seen, dreams never manifest
and all of it, it seems, just an acceptance,
a decision to explore stories untold;
and with open hearts and minds,
we can approach the impossible
with a conscious respect, and allow life to burgeon
within our dreams, our hopes in time.

And within the folds of time and space,
where life exists on many planes and forms,
we are so bound to earth,
its matter ours in basest thought;
yet, so much exists beyond our star-gazed eyes,
and the shackles of belief do compromise our sight,
if only we would relent the blindness
and embrace the magnitude that awaits us.

For all matter is the same in origin,
every life in symbiotic flow,
as we are one in creation’s intent, and given we are of each other,
we need to realize and know;
we are the children of life’s core,
the expression of all that is potential,
and each one a recipe for promise,
when we look beyond the measure.

    I enjoyed this poem, Tony. It is inspirational and emotive. Most my life I have sought the answer to my longing, the one thing to I can find comfort in and love with all my heart, soul, mind, and body only to finally realize what I seek is not here – it is beyond in that other world. Great work, dear friend. Take care.

    Thanks Phyllis, I guess we should not limit our expectations by believing only in this earthly incarnation, as time is relative and life exists on so many levels, concurrently. Again, happiness is a decision, but the rest is determined by souls, not single lives or our limited viewpoints at one time. Thus the need for a broader perspective. Take care.
