The Buried Heart…Our Understanding
In all humanity there is a heart,
perhaps betrayed, buried under dire circumstances
and sometimes even turned in vengeful rage,
to enact heinous crimes against those of oppression,
or even innocents.
Often that heart is so turned it can never be reached,
and that sadness is devastatingly complete,
but no matter, there is a heart beneath
all the pain and contention, just a symptom
of a broken mind.
Its hard to have compassion for heartless souls,
who may take life, create suffering and take such a toll on lives,
they can never be the same,
all for the want of love, deprived and subjugated
by corrupted minds so devoid of hearts themselves.
The cycle goes on, each link a fading heart,
a dying love and potential, because of the lack of love
and the corrupted conditioning of lost souls,
recreating their own dis-function in others,
the blaming and vengeance of no resolve.
It is hard to forgive such crimes,
yet if we do not we connect with this cycle of pain,
blame and hatred like a communicable disease,
bringing vengeful thoughts from a heart
that should be devoid of such negativity.
Know only that souls are what they are
because of experience, rarely innate those aberrant behaviors,
and in this respect, just souls learning as we,
in horrendous circumstances indeed,
but nonetheless trying to survive their lives.
Within purpose there are many colours,
many lessons that for us, are not acknowledged,
and we in our judgement should stop comparing burdens,
stop assuming we understand such lives,
for they too have souls, facing the same ultimate journey.
Some people are dangerous,
to themselves and others, and in society
we much protect the innocents,
thus our criminal system; but don’t think for a moment
these people are all beyond redemption,
and they deserve our understanding,
for our sake and theirs.
