Breaking the Mold

Breaking the Mold
Breaking the Mold

And too must we break the mold,
the limitations innate that stall our growth,
and in recognition and by our oath
we overcome ourselves,
weaving new possibilities in life,
opening doors that were not in view
through the eyes of our beginnings.

What inheritance we bring,
either positive or the sting of fault,
we must change by growth,
to surmount the challenges otherwise fraught
with the troubles of struggling life,
and so we by change, accept the new,
a range of scope not accrued by years
but guided by necessity.

Understanding one’s parameters
is uniquely advantageous,
how far we will go and why,
how deeply we will feel the losses and gains,
and keep a world together not awry,
in the shadows of our propensities,
those attributes of harm.

We are individually a scale,
a scope from negative to positive,
and how we choose to live,
how we utilize our nature, is telling,
the soul of us revealed,
regardless of those innate aspects,
that can lead us to higher
or lower ground.

Predilections hover at our periphery,
always ready to take control
when circumstances prevail,
and it is up to our discernment as to which ones rise,
or which ones are stilted,
realized inept or inappropriate,
as we forge paths within life.

We must break the mold,
the fashioning of us to be known,
so we can determine what to nurture
and what to disown,
for clarity is a basis of growth,
a foundation that secures any direction
we choose to follow.

My father was a trailblazer, not just in the wilderness he explored in his wander years, he also opened his heart to life and spirituality. We all can be trailblazers, for we have choices and potential. This is a great piece of work, Tony. Well done dear poet.
