Dystopian Soldier – Vision of Madness

Beleaguered, bewildered
Confused and corrupted
Brain swirling, vision curling
Thoughts resizing, fantasizing

It is real, just what I feel
Sign you name and take the deal
Most in line already dead
All the races bleeding red

Standing tall for the status quo
The one we’re not supposed to know
Most of us just play for show
Others claim to say it isn’t so

Praises for the liberated
Armies of the medicated
Follow orders, storm the borders
In short order, give no quarter

Mindless calculations
Recitations and mediations
Divinations and exploitations
Darkest thoughts in meditation

Tunnel vision, indecision
No ones certain, nothing working
Shouts in silence at the violence
Is it war, no one’s sure

Join the ranks, fill the tanks
Must conform with a uniform
Poison gas, broken glass
Drummers beat on an empty street

Infiltrate and subjugate
No one left to compensate
Rising terror, bringing hate
Who will dare retaliate

Mind control, sell your soul
Shut your hole and play your role
Situation dire, rapid fire
The dead become a funeral pyre

Taking orders from the man
Taking plunder when you can
All or nothing, blood is rushing
Drones buzzing, armor crushing

Thoughts erased, then replaced
A newfound taste for toxic waste
Chips implanted in our brains
Ensuring we all think the same

Jackboots marching, dogs barking
Children starving, armies charging
Never fear, the end is near
Life left to the auctioneer

Sold your soul for constant battle
You had no choice, never mattered
Stand in line, print and sign
A strip mine of human decline

You’re already dead, it’s been said
Blood like wine, flesh like bread
Sacrificed for none at all
Clearer vision when you finally fall

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

Great wordplay and phrasing Ralph, and such a horrid subject in decimation and pointless death. Well done my friend.

Excellent my friend. They really do seem like pawns in the world chess game, used for some sick grudge match. We applaud them and then in some sick twisted turn of events we kneel like clowns. Sorry went off on a tangent. Excellent skillful rhyming and imagery Ralph.
