The Learning is Never Easy

The Learning is Never Easy
The Learning is Never Easy

And who can tell,
when life’s about to change,
rearrange our everything,
the dark clouds moving in,
the rains to cleanse the charred remains
of our iniquitous ploys,
unwrapped in a void of recompense.

How do we not notice,
the fires before us, ignited
by our misconstrued ideas of self importance,
dragged across the mire
in payment for our ignorance,
our dismissal of the truth
crossing ignominiously the ruses we create.

Yet surprised we remain,
can’t explain the fall, the harsh reproach
that wastes our expectations,
and fires up blame,
as if it were someone else more lame than we,
that pushed us onto unknown paths
to suffer without reprieve.

How can we not see,
that self we engender with power
is far less able to be what we thought,
our ego like a brumby freed,
no direction, loose amid the stream of being,
yet surrounded by traps and ditches,
glitches to bring us down.

But profoundly do we ignore,
the red flags and more
that try to warn us of harm,
the arrogant moves of the self,
in no consideration of anything else,
just wants and needs,
conflicting with all else around us.

How long will it take to learn,
when ego rides that brumby free,
and we entrenched in one sided aspirations
fall fowl of our own disease,
and pain resounds in constant cacophony,
because we cannot see
reality, and our own inequity.

A very thought provoking write dear Tony..and many of us do that too…make foolish decisions in life to feed our egos…and in doing that, we ignore all the red flags and ultimately end up in trouble..thank you so much for sharing your words of wisdom..really enjoyed reading..
    (a small doubt..did you mean “ charred” remains in line 5 ,verse 1 ?)
