The Bane of Humanity

The Bane of Humanity
The Bane of Humanity

Confounded by the artistry of malcontent s
who spend their lives administering hurt,
I see such creativity and complex ways,
and think what a waste,
potential so stifled and words so curt,
if only it were for a positive cause;
and in their self-preserving rhetoric,
their deeply antagonistic ploys,
I seek to find a valid reason,
a single moment of joy.

Perhaps they just are,
no explanation required,
and the pleasured pain they cause,
just par for the course,
yet I still don’t understand that choice,
to cause harm and then rejoice,
no moral stance, no remorse,
just a chosen path reflected,
collateral damage accepted
in the planning of their laws.

If only they could be utilised for good,
their wily manipulations,
if their deadly allocations
actually stood for some righteous purpose,
it would be a service to mankind,
but sadly not, they just see self,
and everyone else pales in comparison,
falling by the road or decimated
if you get in their way,
cross their dark intentions.

Confounded I remain,
for I don’t see why, the hurt and all the lies
that reflect their lack of heart,
their selfish shallow part in earthy life,
still, we are all not the same,
and they have every right
to abstain from all the love
and compassion the rest of us feel,
but sorry I am for their blindness,
and out of choice I will remain
parted from these folks, the bane of humanity.

Do you ever wonder that when those type people are alone with just their self, that maybe they have just a glimmer of how life could be if they came from love? It seems they have no concept of love. Great work, Tony.

I think you’re right, Phyllis, they have concept of love or know of its potential in life. And that is sad, but still they’re are poison. Cheers!
