So Who Takes the Stance?

So Who Takes the Stance?
So Who Takes the Stance?

We choose from choice alone,
what we see and how we respond to life,
blinkered by our immediate circumstance
or global from a humanitarian stance,
we imbibe what we will,
vetting truths to an accepted ilk,
and thus awareness grows or stagnates,
dependent upon our openness
and the information we sate
and believe or not.

Complex this world,
from surreptitious reality to blatant clarity,
yet it is still our decision to accept
and let awareness direct our course,
for we may not believe the rhetoric,
or accept it with blind faith,
and that does mold our circumstances,
hone our romantic moral bounds
and the understanding
of life’s ups and downs.

Blissfully unaware,
most people pursue their goals,
and the world outside the periphery of thought,
taught as a consideration of trust,
our leaders to deliver us to wealth and prosperity,
and often not the reality of fate,
the corruption and state of the world,
so maligned in purpose
to frustrate any thinking being,
in seeing what is afoot.

So who takes the stance,
not dance away the blues but take responsibility,
for what is destroying all we believed in:
freedom, non-discrimination and rights,
the foundation of democracy
and now the plight of a world slowly strangled,
betrayed of truth and used we are
to the point of slavery,
to systems that benefit the few,
and oppress the masses?

The voice of all the people, not the leaders, not government, should take the stance that we have had enough! Then work for a better world, through whatever positive means we can. Great piece, Tony.

Glad you enjoyed it Phyllis, unfortunately apathy is a disease in this age, and while we’re distracted those who can, do. The sad state of human being.
