Just One Dance

Just one dance …

I had one dance with you.

just once around the room.

With my heart pounding,

my head reeling,

when the dance was done –

I was in love with you.

Sure hoped you felt that way too,

then your blue eyes sparkling,

you gave me a smile,

as warm as the sun in the sky.

I knew that it was the same for you,

now we are dancing,

together just you and I.

So glad it took but one dance,

to make us fall in love,

make us become as one.

Dances by candlelight,

as shadows fly by on the walls,

with each turn, it seems I want to fly,

as you hold me tight,

as we turn about –

soon I imagine us dancing among the stars.

In my mind melodies play

and in my dreams –

we dance on and on.

Dreaming of other lovers,

that once danced through the ages.

Of chandeliers and ballrooms,

the orchestras that played.

So glad there are still,

soft and sweet love songs,

which we can dance to,

holding on tight.

If our two lips should meet,

while the music still plays,

the dance becomes –

a magical, dizzying fantasy.

The love that holds us,

has become passionate and sweet.

Every time that we go dancing,

it’s always like the first time –

when I fell in love with you.

A lovely, romantic verse. A magical time when dance takes you to the stars with your love. Very nicely penned, Rasma. Merry Christmas to you and Sid.

Very romantic Rasma and beautifully emotive. So much warmth and intimacy in a dance. Have a great Christmas dear poet.
