The Finding of Inner Peace
Near to me, dear to this heart’s intent,
open all I can be, to the symmetry of life,
the balance of extremes,
the pathway to serene repose,
aware the pendulum swing,
yet opposed to the self harm that ensues,
when ego plays its game, the self on display,
the ruse of a rash mind.
My calm so fought for,
in my hasty and misguided plans,
yet now lost from wanting,
I have everything as life demands my focus,
not my obedience,
just the lack of contention
that finds within my heart, my peace,
and in calm my soul observes.
So lost for so long,
I struggled for freedom,
yet it was my ties that bound,
my forced will unrelenting
that chained me to my suffering,
and when blame was removed
I knew life would change,
for no-one stands in our way but us.
Each breath now is easy,
each thought calm and considered,
and those thoughts of torment that once disabled,
now gone, enabling my focus upon love
and the caring that manifests complete
in this new world,
calmly experienced in glorious detail,
and without the anxiety of fear.
I regret nothing,
the pain I now see as my uplifting,
the dragging to my senses necessary,
and despite the agony of failure, I grow,
and know truly I have found peace,
for life is filled with choice and answers
when we finally ask the right questions,
to find a balance within
that transforms completely.
