Another Year Gone By
Another year gone by
They’re coming quicker now
Soon it will be spring
And then summer again
Before we can blink
We’ll return again
Another year gone by
And we look back
Always yearning
Those “good old days”
Which are forever from our grasp
We talk of change
How we’ll do this or that
Bad habits to break
Change our diets
Take those daily walks
The ones we keep saying
We’ll start taking
Just as soon as the weather breaks
The mirror which never lies
Revealing grey
Wrinkles and sagging skin
We blink several times
As if it would make it change
The crick in our necks
Aches and pains
Harder to hear
Eyesight growing dim
Another year gone by
Asking ourselves
If this is the one
The year we finally
Get things done
Change in the air
All the time
But if we don’t grab it
It floats away
So ask yourself
In the days ahead
When kisses at midnight
And makers of noise
Mean something more
Than just a celebration
And New Year’s Day
Actually has a purpose
Other than festivities

Very important thoughts to ponder on. What does the New Year celebration really mean? Hopefully it is more than that one evening of festivities and the beginning of changes which will make a better life. Time is going by, now is the time for improvements. Great work with an excellent message, Ralph.
Well expressed and poignantly posed as time dictates our thoughts and life. Another year, another day, another moment of living, and what will the new year bring, the changes wanted and unexpected? I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year Ralph, and lets hope this year the world can change for the better. Take care my friend.
