The Humble Tree

The Humble Tree
The Humble Tree

In the beauty of life
there is none more stunning than a tree,
a yearning life reaching for the sky,
as old and stoic its stance,
so learned in its sight,
as we breathe its life,
its precious gift our own.

In bow and leaf it sings,
as winds give melody to its being,
rejoicing every moment,
every ray and drop of rain,
and strong it has grown,
rooted to the earth
in nurturing growth and sharing.

How I love to sit beneath their shade,
rustling serenades of movement,
lulling a mind to serene moments,
as if every leaf a word to say,
and creaking bows the flexing of life,
strong and enduring,
radiating its joyous stream of being.

The rustic scent of bark,
fresh green sprout attest its autumn revival,
and as wind dances through
its many open arms,
the sweet fragrance of our sustaining breath,
as we look up in wonder,
in beauty’s keep our wondrous trees.

So vast in form and colour,
so varied in size and shape,
the humble tree is our symbiotic brother,
always giving freely,
in loving embrace the giver,
and we should reciprocate,
respect life in every way and be thankful.
