Impostor Cloud

Impostor cloud, draw back your dark affront,
your dreary dull countenance,
and let that sky, that cradle of eternal beyond,
be the blue ceiling of my world,
and not covered by tattered grumbling spite,
flashes of light and indiscriminate mood;
please dissipate and bleach your dark surprise,
white pristine eyes, the clouds of day’s liking,
and let the sun line each one
with promise of summer’s play,
and break not my languid snoozing.
My intermittent view,
of sailing ships on snowy peaks,
gliding by across those subtle hues,
endow my serenity, bolster my proclivity
for summer days as gentle breeze assumes,
in moments of blissful nodding,
light and shade in crossing my knoll repose,
drifting like those cotton balls of cloud,
sun-drenched vistas of contiguous shrouds
while I in gentle waning thought,
allow the day to set this soul adrift.
And sun on ragged peak descends,
as sunlight eases to its low,
behind those mountains in defense,
and the gloaming cycle ensues,
those hues now laden
with gold and orange flames,
and clouds fall strewn across horizon’s glow,
as sky finds darkness to evoke its nightly attire,
its studded blinking sigh,
for all that day has accrued,
is in night’s hands, in the shadows of allure.
And I, filled with heart-felt glee,
such beauty of revelation,
and atop my knoll in shadows cold,
I must take leave in day’s farewell,
accept the stars and appreciate
that impostor cloud’s short swell,
just a notion not upheld,
as the day melded into perfection,
and I in recollection,
give thanks.

Ahhh! Such a glorious time to spend in ‘languid snoozing” and “blissful nodding”. I can actually feel that mood as I recall snoozing outside on a late afternoon. I love this verse, Tony. Your phrasing and imagery brings the vision out so vividly. Marvelous work, dear poet.
Much appreciated Phyllis, yes I do love the transitions of day and into night: a worthy subject of poetic expression. Cheers!
Most wonderful poetry.
So pleased you enjoyed it Rasma, Cheers!
