The Burden of Understanding Time

Time is the construct within which we place ourselves,
believing its reality as steadfast and true,
yet if we neglected to believe in time at all,
would reality then change,
would our expectations expand into possibilities,
not thought or considered
without time’s limitations?
Perception guides our experience, time,
both slowing and speeding up acknowledged,
dependent upon circumstance;
so if our perception changes,
does time accommodate our thoughts,
or is this our imagination,
a fantasy of relativity?
It has been proven that time can be warped,
by considered relativity, speed and position,
so in as much as our thoughts create reality,
then our thoughts also create time,
the mirror of our beliefs,
and so although time appears a measure of truth,
it may well be just as malleable as any infinite concept.
I have experienced time warps,
experienced time within a much narrower construct,
and lost time, arriving a moment after my first step,
so I know there is a conflict of understanding,
a realization of fluidity,
that for now I cannot fathom,
and so my perspective is forever changed.
Time is an enigma, an invention of measure,
yet how it works within further dimensions,
not just the linear scope of our teaching,
but unencumbered within an infinite universe,
is what we wish to understand,
to grasp in the freedom of possibility
and apply to our place in existence.
When someone asks you what’s the time,
you may not be able to answer adequately,
for our minuscule understanding of it
affords not the simplicity asked,
but a far more complex inference,
laden with theories that now
make little sense, until proven.

How interesting and thought provoking, Tony. I do not wear a watch, so mostly go by instinct as to time. I wonder if past life dreams are actually time warps or the subconscious recalling memories? It would be interesting to read more about what you have in your fourth stanza (what you have experienced). Great work. I love this.
Thanks Phyllis, it is an interesting subject. Back then I was doing experiments regarding time and perception and the results were intriguing. Glad you enjoyed this. Cheers!
