Apparition of Love
There in the garden,
was the place he liked best,
here was where her,
flowers blossomed and grew.
So long now that she’d gone,
but here beneath the moon and the stars,
they met each night,
him and his apparition of love.
He now waited for the midnight hour,
when he knew she’d come
and as his heart beat faster,
he felt her hand slipping into his.
He looked at that lovely ghostly face,
her smile so brilliant,
as she softly sighed –
he could have cried.
Then she rose from the bench
and he watched as she floated along.
Touching each precious bloom,
that in life she had loved so very much.
She was so lovely,
now frozen in time,
returning to him –
the only love she had ever known.
No matter what the season,
she found a reason,
to bring him great joy,
whenever she appeared to him.
In the wintertime,
when the garden was covered in snow,
she would create snow flowers –
that shimmered with a silvery glow.
As he rose to go to her,
she turned toward him
and for just a moment –
he saw her as she had looked the day she went away.
Then the careworn face,
was replaced by ethereal beauty,
a special glow was all about her,
this spirit that waited for him up yonder.
She waved her hands
and suddenly their love song began to play.
He reached out to her
and they danced among the flowers.
If one would look over the garden fence,
they would see,
an elderly gentleman,
waltzing with the air unless they truly believed.
But he didn’t care,
not when she was there,
so lovely and so very young,
like on the day that they met.
So through the years,
while waiting for the angels to come,
he enjoyed these ghostly visits –
just him and his only love.

Oh … such beauty there is in memories that manifest in the heart and soul of one who lives in divine love. Great piece and so emotive. Well done, Rasma.
Thank you Phyllis.
A very romantic piece with heart-warming sentiments of eternal love and the yearning to be together. Lovely work Rasma.
Thank you Tony.
This gave me chills – such a sweet tale of lost love – I’m certain romances such as this are destined to be rekindled across time and space and over many lifetimes….
Thank you RJ Glad you enjoyed this.
This was amazing Rasma. Especially the line of the elderly man dancing with air where one could see the apparition only if they believed, just a beautiful piece of writing. Well done.
Thank you Paul.
