The Festering Truth of Our Compliance

A seamless parody of life,
these power brokers,
so entrenched in lies,
they themselves don’t know
what lives within their dark enclaves,
so invested in a lesser self,
they cannot fathom why they lost all morality,
loyalty and a heart that works.
I watch their attempted relevance,
their aspired words of assurance, yet
the only certainty is we will be worse off,
and they better;
how do they sleep,
living the burden of their aspirations,
but really, they see what they want to see,
and no explanation can change that darkness.
It seems to me a waste of life,
those prepared to commit heinous acts,
justified in their plans of ascension,
and no beauty touches them,
long lost that human ideal of love,
buried in blood-soaked soil,
the body count building up,
and their blinkered sight the denial
of thoughts and actions.
Politics breeds such insanity,
not patriotism but malice drives them,
not for country, not for man,
just the narcissistic opportunism
that wealth and power nurture,
and I watch their empty souls entreat minds,
manipulate and placate the misery we feel,
and with supercilious smiles
make assurances that we are fine.
Yet we are not fine, as dark clouds
encroach upon our sunny days,
and each step they make
robs us even further of our power,
until with one sweeping hand,
our happily distracted ignorance
will attest our servitude, complete,
and their superiority.

Very well penned, Tony. For the most part I agree with you, but I see all that negativity on the Democrat side and the GOP. It was set up for Hillary Clinton to win and when she lost an all-scale war broke out against Trump. They will not hesitate to stoop as low as they can to discredit the President. I still have faith in Trump and believe he will do the right thing for the people – providing the Democrats back off, suck it up, and start acting like intelligent adults, which very well may be impossible for them. The GOP (Republicans) should be standing with Trump instead of fighting him – they are destroying their own party and need to smarten up. Trump is basically standing alone. I do agree that “Politics breeds such insanity, not patriotism but malice drives them,” – I just hope Trump can break the backs of the insane.
It has always seems the same relatively, and in this day and age appears to be more prevalent in the world, leading us all to an inevitable point of crisis. Simply I have lost faith in all politicians and a path of spirituality will never come from that quarter, so we’re on our own. Thanks for your comment Phyllis. Take care.
