Turmoil – Poetry
Turmoil …
Turmoil sending waves of dizziness
Swirling through many holes in the mind,
Surging whitecap waters rushing me,
Words tumbling around, I am so blind.
A hand is reaching out from afar
I try to grasp, am slipping away,
Drowning in water fathoms too deep,
Order the words right, what do they say?
Cannot breathe, sleep now dear one in peace,
Alone now in thoughts that make no sense,
Just float away and let it take me,
Had many thoughts don’t know where they went.
Found some calm waters farther out there
Then hit hard with another big wave,
No clarity, strength is ebbing fast,
I reached out and gave then again gave.
Cannot find anything firm enough,
Dangling above, feet are not on ground
Nothing to reach for, nothing stands firm,
Cannot find the way to turn around.
Bubbling essence of sounds far away,
What’s possible, what is what is not,
Is it my own call, my very voice,
What is the right way, what have I got?
No chance ahead, no buoy near by,
Nothing to hold on to stay afloat,
Is something appearing from the shore,
Try to open eyes, chances remote.

Well penned as to that feeling of no control, all at sea with no life raft. All things fade in time and our only focus should be the lesson gifted to us. As hard as life can be, there is always a light, always a point of change that saves us from our darker selves. Relax and let time heal, the mind find reason and the soul find firm footing. Take care Phyllis.
Thank you so much, Tony. I will heed your advice – I so appreciate that.
Your poetic words speak the truth. Most often in life especially now I feel like I’m afdrift upon a sea and I have to take control of my life so that I can reach the shore.
Thank you so much, Rasma. When we are adrift at sea it is hard to reach the shore and you are right, that is when we must take control. Friendship and moral support for each other is a blessing.
Confusion and chaos then leads to turmoil. The comparison of unending waves was perfect Phyllis. Excellent job. Great imagery.
Thank you, Paul. I was trying to find a way to express what I felt and could not get it out till I saw that photo of the waves churning so roughly.
Being a adrift is a lonely feeling, we all seek safe harbors and a beacon of light to draw us to safety. Waves will come and go in our lives, let the tide bring you safely home. Staying afloat in this life is often very difficult, some times we feel drawn to the dark abyss, it wants to bring us to it’s depths of sorrow. I feel you are a very strong survivor Phyllis, so swim with the dolphins and mermaids, they will be your safety net, your wisdom and your spirits. Beautifully penned, I thoroughly enjoyed this work. Kudos
Ah ! You lift my spirit, Vincent. “Swim with the dolphins and mermaids”, I love that so much. Yes, I am a very strong survivor, Vincent, and I know all will be well, I will go on with love and wisdom in my heart. Thank you so much, Vincent. Hugs !
