The Cloak of Indifference

The Cloak of Indifference
The Cloak of Indifference

Indifference marks a soul disconnected,
and life by some degree limited in scope,
and while we may choose our paths, our goal destinations,
indecision just slows us down,
until we care not, all else but self.

This is no mechanism of protection,
no decision facilitating change,
just stagnation for all we reject in life, outright,
judged to be less than we think it to be,
and so a door closes to a soul in learning.

Indifference is a shallow pond,
no depth to afford recognition,
and by our indolent stance, we create walls,
those that separate us from life’s possibilities,
for the learning of what we do not first consider.

And open heart and mind,
can always make room for possible truths,
perspectives that can transcend our chosen views,
and with the acceptance that all things have value,
paths un-trodden may yield epiphanies golden.

The reality of life in it’s present form before them, oft is disfigured, blurred. Indifference blinding their view of life. A pace of life, fast and furious, nothing matters but self to many. The world around them but a fog, only a oneness connection to self, nobody else. Their own physical self, can’t see themselves in a place of homelessness, blindly they wear their own masks of indifference until one day their mask is removed and a loving, caring change of heart appears. There soul has shown them the light of kindness for that person laying in the street of indifference. Beautifully penned Tony, so much truth in your words. Cheers

To sink into a state of indifference shuts out so much of life and imprisons a soul in a place too small for growth, love or anything else – it is only existing from one breath to the next, for what else would there be? An open heart and love is what connects people to others and to life. Great work, Tony.
