Lower Forms of Life
What feast awaits the victor,
the one last standing,
when the world is annihilated,
love repressed to a dried shell,
replaced by hatred, and
grown from the seed of ambivalence,
too common the acceptance of greed
and a light-less life,
void of all that matters,
and so an endless potential wasted
in the mire of human ineptitude.
What point a principal
if all it fights for is lost,
down to egos who represent not
humanity’s saving,
but their own prideful ways,
driven on paths of no surrender
with outcomes desolate of life,
and we the acceptable collateral damage,
a voiceless pile of bones, flesh and blood,
crunch underfoot of muddied boots,
principles in tact.
What win is worth war,
when death is candy to dark souls,
and pain no lesson but the robbing of life,
torn from a souls grace,
and worth not the weight
of its own dismembered whole,
yet those of ill-intent rule this planet,
withhold, control and purpose fill their will,
to fill their coffers,
their maniacal thirst for the ultimate dream
of dictatorship.
But they cannot take the love in our hearts,
the knowing of right, our hope,
and no matter their evil deeds,
they are less than any human
who finds meaning in life itself,
and the natural world our gift given,
that teaches us a higher purpose,
far above these unenlightened fools,
who would squander life’s gift,
as if a penny
in an arcade amusement.

Take they will, all they can, but, as you say, Tony, they will never take the love in our hearts. They will never take all we hold sacred in nature, which will forever be a part of us. Our spirits will never be broken. I have hope we will survive in a better world. Excellent portrayal of lower life forms. Great work, Tony.
Thanks Phyllis, so glad you appreciated my thoughts. Take care.
They can try to silent our pens, our souls, but our hearts are too strong to fight on with our words. Many in the past have lost their lives for what they stood for Tony, I will always be the Braveheart and righteous for what I believe in. Love, Peace and equal rights for all. Beautifully penned my friend. Keep writing the truths, many need to hear it from us.
Thank you my friend, very much appreciated . Take care Vincent.
