Hopes for My Children

Hopes for My Children
Hopes for My Children

Crusted by time,
weathered by life,
open and bleeding
from emotion’s despair,
I kneel in reverence
to my human plight,
the scars of struggle
that have shown me better,
the loves that have failed me,
for I could not see the truth,
and the failures
that have plagued me,
by my delusions, my ruse,
let dry in the midday sun
to crumble,
for those scars
are my deliverance,
my saving grace, having
withstood the world,
and in reverence now appreciate,
the process of my journey,
the pain of my delivery
and the knowing
of my destined path.

I muster what beauty I see,
and in humility render it,
words as heartfelt I can
to inspire life in all its potential,
and despite my failings,
my weathered brow,
my wasted time,
I endure, the better for it,
knowing my path is right,
my purpose accepted,
and hope I can instill the rewards
of spiritual life, with my children,
so they may be fulfilled
as I, in the pursuit of perfection,
the expression of creativity
and the joy that life can be.

    Tony,

I am pretty much rendered speechless by your words above. Is this poem, here, in your above book that is featured? I would like to have this poem to keep.

“Thank you for sharing” is the best I can do about now because I have been made rather useless by the splendor of it all- your PoEm.

You are too kind Tamara, but I am grateful that you connect to my thoughts and expression, and so pleased you enjoyed this piece. Have a great day my friend.

You sir are a legacy, the people left behind when you continue on your journey will be benefactors of a library of exquisite verse from a man of two centuries. You’ve blazed a trail with your work, so much masterfully crafted, strung like pearls through eternity. This is one of your finest works of expression of oneself, barring your true self, your heart and soul. What more can we give, but not our total self.

    “and in reverence now appreciate,
    the process of my journey,
    the pain of my delivery
    and the knowing
of my destined path.” Yes indeed with every press of your pen to page, your destiny was to be
a poet. I am humbled by you sir and you have my total respect.

No matter what life throws at us, Tony, we can sift through it and discard that which is harmful. Collecting up all of life’s important lessons and the crumbs of the positive so that we can pass that on to our children Hopefully let them learn from our mistakes instead of having to suffer through it themselves. Great poetry from the heart.

Glad you enjoyed it John, and it would be great if our experience helped our children’s paths but alas often its experience that teaches. Cheers!

    Tony,

Please let me know if I may add this beautiful poem to my Pinterest Board, Entitled: Other Writers. I would only put the link in there, to this splendid poem. I would like to save it very much. If you wish to see my Pinterest, it is under my name.

Of course you can Tamara. The more exposure any of us get through other sites, helps us all, so feel free to add my work. Take care.
