A Wake Up Call…Life in Better Ways

A Wake Up Call...Life in Better Ways
A Wake Up Call…Life in Better Ways

Upon the eternal sands of shore,
I lay prostrate, stilled of heart,
and water washes over me,
as the past in glimpses
of fresh salty ambivalence, ensues,
fixed in memory yet without sting;
each lapping ignites my mind,
like letting go of space and time
as past rolls out to sea,
and I, cleansed of being.

Time does erode the past,
like ocean honed glass,
and memories become impotent,
for all the hurt they caused,
and as I lay upon the sand,
the hurt just dissipates into a million grains,
beneath me on that shore,
holding me up for all their scars and more,
delivered into the present, less scathed,
and ready for my future, clean.

I used to focus on those hurts and pain,
let rain dominate the skies,
and now I forgive my ignorance,
for this moment is all the sky I need,
vast ethereal blue,
filled with the promise of not yet true,
awaiting my view and acceptance;
now seated in horizon’s gaze,
I wonder what gifts await,
as hurt is just a wake up call,
for life in better ways.

    Wonderful and pleasant thoughts, Tony. To release the past hurts and pain is opening the heart and soul to freedom and peace, and better days. Such an uplifting piece, very expertly penned.

    Oh yes my friend, the many hurts of the past that often come back to haunt us when were least expecting them. We toss and turn at night, and like a spider they crawl over us wanting to entangle us in their spinning web, reminding us of past hurts. We are awaken sometimes at night in this fusion of past and present. We block them out and strive for the goodness in life, the light, the constant light we pursue. We fight, not allowing our minds to be occupied with a wake up call from our past. I know that the present day is my main focus, I won’t allow myself to lay face down in the muck and mire of my past. I lay on the sands of life and happily let the lapping waves tickle my feet and flow over me to wash away the past and engulf me in love, peace and contentment. Bravo, kudos beautifully penned.

    Much appreciated Vincent, yes, the burden of past is far too much to bear, so we must forgive and move on unencumbered. Pleased you enjoyed it my friend.
