I’ll Know Then What I Seek

I'll Know Then What I Seek
I’ll Know Then What I Seek

I am master of a world crumbling,
evolving in seamless array,
and thoughts muster regrets,
the delays of my past conquests,
that bruised the soul of me,
when I learned their fallacy
and decay.

These undulations are profoundly painful,
their truths like clean cuts to flesh,
and the blood-letting
me ridding pain put to bed,
for renewal I seek,
to speak of lesser fates
and let go.

Once a delicate hand did soothe this brow,
burdened by thoughts misconstrued,
and love’s warm breath attested life
a purpose, a direction I pursued,
yet in dilapidated cities strewn with pain
love hides in dark corners,
and I wonder who reigns?

I am master of a world
that weeps for itself,
a pity of poignant keep and scope,
for mastery has never brought peace,
just the learning of dashed hopes
and the acceptance of change
the wave we ride in life.

I sought perfection and found ineptitude,
sought love and found selfish need,
and still I read the pages of my soul
and recognize love is all there is,
when change has found a resting place,
and world a solution to its woes,
I’ll know then what I seek.

This is a powerful piece of poetry, Tony. I really like the last two verses in particular.
