The Harp…in the loving hands of a mistress

The Harp...in the hands of a loving mistress
The Harp…in the hands of a loving mistress

Slender fingers perched set, acquiesce,
each string a tone of melody, in wait,
and when supple touch and tune ensues,
like bells of a tower pervade the room.

Melodious rivulets swirl in rhythmic flow,
room amassed and burgeoning,
swollen with the passion of euphony,
embroidered air with silken threads.

The swell of sound like angels wings,
caressed by a Summer breeze,
like siren songs of ancient rites,
imploring hearts to breath each hallowed note.

And as she plays this harp transforms,
its resonance a beauteous accession,
the room filled with a resounding chorus,
notes melding into a symphony.

From crystal brooks to zephyr sighs,
from thunder booms and lovers eyes,
each note, each chord from an impassioned heart,
music to win the darkest intent.

And when at end, the sound endures,
reverberant bells of vast array,
echoing, pervading air with grace and subtle nuance,
the harp, in the loving hands of a mistress.

In the loving hands of a Mistress, I wonder why those delicate stringed instruments always tend to end up between their amazing fingers;-)) too soothe Kings, warriors and Samson types from their days of grandeur. I would love to sit about just wearing a towel, being fed grapes and sipping on only the finest mead, whilst a slender, curvy busted Delilah soothed my soul with her delicate strings. Me thinks, I would be ready for war too after my soothing sojourn with my mistress indeed. Well written my friend, I was starting to feel the music from Harps gentle touch. Bravo.

A hauntingly beautiful instrument Vincent, always loved the sound of them. Guitar is my instrument, and piano, but I’d love to have a harp one day. Glad you enjoyed it my friend.

Oh my goodness, this was so well done. I could hear it through your words. ’embroidered air, with silken threads’ excellent. The harp is mesmerizing, I have loved it since I was a small child. Begged mom to play it, but…I got the cello instead. (Also lovely) still, the harp does sing to the angels, seems it could soften any heart, seems to carry the golden light in any orchestra. Beautiful poem.

    Best,
    Mel

I do love cello too, what a beautiful sound, but the harp is unique in its angelic sound, so evocative and lilting. Pleased you enjoyed the expression Mel. Take care.
