Don’t Put Me Out

Don’t Put Me Out

Don't

Don’t put me out, don’t extinguish my flame
It burns bright and hot like a raging inferno
Seemingly causing chaos wherever it goes
Sometimes, though, it burns calm and gentle like a lighthouse beacon
And it never fails to lead me back to me

Your verse is lovely, Shannon, a beacon to bring you back to your Self. I love lighthouses. When I lived in the Pacific Northwest we would drive all around to visit the lighthouses and picnic. Your post brought back some good memories for me. I enjoyed it very much.

Nicely penned Shannon and poignant in that we all must return to ourselves: the reality, the truth and with acceptance, peace. Enjoyed.

Nice work for you first piece here at The Creative Exiles, Shannon. I like how you compare your inner flame to a lighthouse beacon. Great job in so few words.

Thank you, John. Lighthouses are there to bring a ship home safely. Why shouldn’t our inner flame bring us back safely? Although, I’ll admit that I kinda surprised myself with that one. LOL

Great comparison. We all need that beacon to keep us grounded and bring that flame back to where it belongs. Nice work.
