Know Me at Your Own Peril

Know Me at Your Own Peril
Know Me at Your Own Peril

But a fledgling philosopher,
an intellectual opportunist,
a tie-dyed pacifist
and a stoic existentialist,
a kind-hearted soul in
grumpy old skin,
and a lover not a fighter,
for without and within.

I cannot pretend
I am in complete control,
but I can guarantee with conviction
you can’t move me from resolve,
and my truths are tested
your lies all fall short,
of effecting me in any way,
for I am consistent in resort.

Should you contest me,
with some plan of dark intent,
your words will just dissipate
as your malice makes no sense,
and I’ll plead insanity,
when your reason is quoted,
in God’s name your will,
your ignorance has spoken.

So try to get along,
for I’ve no time for games,
my heart on my sleeve,
as love only reigns,
and I’m no perfect being,
no shining example,
just a soul who questions,
one who accepts all the answers.

To know me is worth it,
to love me sublime,
but do nothing by halves
for its everything on the line,
or nothing at all,
as life is for living,
and just letting it happen
outside of my scope,
so hold fast your convictions,
and muster your hope.

Know me at your own peril.

And there you are, no qualms about it. An honest expression of self–it’s refreshing to know a direct person, not afraid to say it like it is, Tony. Well done!

    Best,
    Mel

Accepting a person for who they are in soul and depth, not the outer core of bumps, scars and age lines. To walk this life sure of oneself, your convictions, strengths, spirit and of course love. For no other is you, we are all unique, the mold broken on birth to release a personality. It’s how we manage that gift given to us throughout our short lives here that may or may not determine our fate on the other side of another world, for an atom we started as and an atom we will return back to the Universal eternal journey. Beautifully penned my poet.
