The Human Consciousness

The human consciousness…

Beyond our understanding

Yet we evaluate, analyze, and scrutinize

Many states of many things

Interactive and interdependent

Creating careful correlations

Based on statistical repetition

Of what passes through the human mind

Awareness, perception, reasoning

Emotional assumptions

Based on preconceived notions

Combined complexities of sentience and arousal

Subjective to that which surrounds us

Indeed, that which holds attribution

An unexplained passage of reasoning

Penetrates and permeates our being

Physically and philosophically

Creating the feeling of sensation

Energies passing through our space

Resting in place

Stimulating sight, smell, sound, and taste

A duality of greatness

In both strength and weakness

Where by thought we seek an extension

Seeking out that which lies beyond

That which generates desire

Bridging body and mind

And the resurfacing questions of the ages

Hunting for the point of origin

And that of termination

Where does the brain end and the mind begin?

And the origin of a thought

With the extrapolative possibilities

Of explaining everything

Deciding how decisions pursue

Perhaps choice becomes identity

Conclusion merely a lesson

In uncertainty and unpredictability

Or the realization

That intentions are pre-determined

Without consciousness engaging

Altered states, dreams, sleep

Absence becomes the focus

While consciousness remains the virtue

Time intercedes

Presenting a forum for contemplation

Freedom without apprehension

To meditate and formulate

Deeper truth the objective

The light coexisting with the darkness

An order to the universe

And what can be seen

Tthrough the windows of our souls

I write about everything and sometimes nothing at all. I'm fascinated by old things, rusty things, abandoned places, or anywhere that a secret might be unearthed. I'm passionate about history and many of my pieces are anchored in one concept of time or another. I've always been a writer, dating back to my youth, but the last decade has been a time of growth for me. I'm continually pushing the limitations of vocabulary, syntax, and descriptive phrasing.

Not easy to define consciousness, other than we realize that we are. How complex the process of learning, experiencing and gleaning understanding of who we are. Some great wordplay and truths Ralph. Enjoyed it my friend.

Makes you wonder how many ways we can examine something and how many different views that will arise once those results are reviewed…..
