My Quill, My Companion

My Quill, My Companion
My Quill, My Companion

Writing, my companion…

The quill burns
as words, smoldering from birth,
touch parchment planes of vacancy,
and they seer the flat void with ardent purpose,
impressed and transformed by intent,
and I hold fast to that quill,
unknowing its course,
melding with its seeking mind,
to acknowledge what lays within
and what chooses to face the light of day.

What secrets emerge from within,
unbeknownst to me,
spewing out like lava and ash,
of burned past and anger’s rash resolves,
and then in timely scope,
a driven love and understanding
serves to remind me who I am,
and my path in beauty’s hope,
rises like the Phoenix
to quell all my fears.

How loves does envelope me,
each time I touch that quill,
and discovery is mine each moment,
when eloquence finds my thoughts,
my heart to soar as well,
as truth, unburdened by fear just finds flight,
and I, weightless in its freedom,
thank life, for all I have and know,
my future yet to sew,
and my quill, my companion.

I envy you, Tony. Being able to just pick up your pen or quill and write meaningful poetry, prose etc. I have been trying to write something significant for a week without success. I have an idea but it just isn’t taking shape the way I want. I know when the time is right it will all fall into place but I am sick of waiting. I have pages of notes And poems I have started but I am not satisfied with any of it. Anyway, this was well penned as always. Good for you.

I understand many writers have these delays and glitches in writing. For me there is no effort, not desire or note taking. Sometimes I come up with a line while I’m in bed and have to write it down. But that is infrequent. For me it is about connecting to creativity, which I achieve by simply being quiet of mind. It sounds strange, but if I have the time, I can write up to ten poems a day and other works. I guess I am prolific, but it is not my intention. I just utilize the time I have and write. I force nothing, I attempt nothing… I just write with an open heart and mind. Just relax John, creativity cannot be harnessed, just accepted. Cheers!
