The Last Dance

Growing old is not an option – it is a fact of life. How wonderful it would be to have that special someone to grow old with? All of us search for that one person that we want to share our lives with and in the end our last dance. I can not think of a better ending when our lives have ran their course and we find ourselves on an empty dance floor that somehow was meant for just the two of us. In our arms and looking deeply into each other eyes again, we become young once again like the passage of time has never passed. The songs that were ours down through the years and belong to no one else – start to play. Slowly we start to sway to the music that was written for us by those that did not know us. As we dance our last dance, we realize this and every dance floor has always been ours.

Last Dance
If I had only had one last dance, this is what I would like to do,
Dance every last step, look in your eyes and spend it with you.

If I could make the dance last forever, and if all my wishes could come true,
I would dance with you my treasure, dance my last dance with you.

Looked around enough to know, that you’re the one I want for my last dance,
Hold you with your head on my chest, knew it from the very first glance.

If I had a dance floor full of memories, that I wish would come true,
The dance floor would be empty, except for me dancing with you.

If I had only had one last dance, this is what I would like to do,
Dance every last step, look in your eyes and spend it with you.

Very romantic Kurt–My heart is always warmed by the sight of aging couples walking hand in hand, or dancing lovingly together, untouched by time. A lovely piece. Enjoyed it!

    Best,

Beautiful and romantic, Kurt. As Paul said, your intros add so much as an accompaniment to your poetry. Great work.
