Always She
The Note …
She was his life,
his reason for living,
making him keep on giving,
his heart time after time,
no matter how it hurt.
Every day she made him smile,
always she had captured his heart –
right from the very start.
She was lovely,
a joy to be with,
he never saw it coming –
never even knew what hit him.
There was only a note,
that said she was going away,
reasons unsaid,
why she couldn’t stay.
She left him,
with a broken heart,
crushed to the very soul,
it became so very cold.
She made him turn from love,
right on to hate,
the days turned to gloom,
all alone in an empty room.
After work,
a shot of whisky,
numbed the pain
and the piano man,
kept playing all of the memories,
he was longing to forget.
He was ever wondering,
if it was right,
still caring for her,
if she could toss their love –
so carelessly away.
But in his dreams,
she came back again,
every other woman,
he felt was another she,
ready to put another thorn,
into his already bleeding heart.
He cursed the day he met her
and the day she left.
He wondered –
how love could go so wrong,
perhaps the world consisted,
of love songs,
that made eyes misty
and made warning signs –
seem insignificant.
Came the note ,
it said she was wrong,
wrong to have left him,
she wanted to come back to stay,
her heart beat only for him.
His answer was brief –
Come home, I love you.
He took a shot of whisky,
his heart beating rapidly –
Always She

Beautifully penned and expressive in the play of love, the endless undulations of life. Nice work Rasma.
Thank you Tony.
Everyone has a soulmate, its undeniable. No one ever lives up to that expectation. Even after all the heartache and pain, the only thing they feel is love. Lovely piece Rasma~Paul
