Painting the Seasons

Painting the Seasons…

In his golden years,

inspiration took up his time,

the muses singing in rhyme –

it was his life now.

The poet was glad,

for someday when his time came,

he would leave behind,

his poetic words trailing in the wind.

So he decided to paint the seasons,

with his words,

to let the world know,

he was here –

through all the seasons, through all the years.

Spring would come dancing,

with pink and white blossoms,

soft drizzling rains,

lilacs blooming in May.

When the colors of the rainbows,

after the soft spring rains,

seemed to turn into colorful balloons

and just float away.

Summer would come blazing,

with a yellow sun,

in a brilliant blue sky,

Colorful butterflies,

dancing among flowers,

in rainbow colors.

Red meadows full of poppies,

lazily nodding in the breeze.

Autumn with falling leaves,

dancing upon the wind,

with the north winds,

painting cheeks red.

Colors of orange, red, brown and yellow,

a world painted with one brush stroke

and orange pumpkins on the vine.

Winter brought frost,

upon the pumpkins,

snowflakes like ballerinas,

so graceful and delicate.

Changed the world,

to gray and white,

while the north wind,

howled by the window.

Once again through the years,

the poet would write,

long into the night,

he knew that with each poetic word –

he brought everyone into his poetic world.

Filled with rich imagery and verse eloquently penned in the revolving seasons of life. And it is a blessing that our thoughts and words may live on beyond us. Nicely done Rasma.

Lovely images Rasma, so well conceived to take us through the colors of the seasons, painted by the brush of a poet. I enjoyed it! 🙂
