Joy and Profound Seeing

Joy is in the heart,
awaiting an excuse to impart its truth to the world,
held back only by our doubts
and investment in beliefs of struggle,
attested so direly to life’s unfurling;
so why do we dismiss such a positive state of being,
for fears and mistrusted issues and dreams,
when joy is but a decision
and priorities are always our to determine?
Happiness is no secret held,
just a decision of being, regardless,
and problems are just challenges,
not blades to inflict mortal wounds,
and in learning our cure
to much of what we consider pain;
so instead of dragging around weighted fears,
we should be smiling for the experience, and casting aside
what keeps us doubting life.
Choice is always ours,
regardless how circumstance is dressed,
and tis life’s bequest we accept all in the name of joy,
for what hope does fear have
when a joyful acceptance is ready to embrace,
and darkness cannot find a shadow
in which to shrivel out of sight,
just escape the overwhelming light,
to know it has no place.
Joy is akin to love, its oracle of being,
and in its favour none shall fall,
for love and light chase darkness to night,
and stars light up the eternity,
as when joy is ours, no shroud espoused,
we hold life in its entirety,
never to be foiled by fears and dark affronts,
just accepted as a way of being,
in life and with profound seeing.

How can one forget over time the spontaneous joys we felt when as a child chasing a butterfly was pure joy? You are right, Tony, “joy is akin to love.” The world could be a far better place if more people felt and expressed joy, the sheer joy of life. Wonderful verse!
Glad you enjoyed Phyllis, many thanks my friend.
You are right, Tony. In this day and age we all need to hear this message more often. It is easy to forget what really matters, how we can choose to find joy in everything life has to offer. Beautiful.
Thanks Emese, glad you agree, the world is what we perceive it to be and happiness after all, is what we all seek.
