A heaven like this one day

A heaven like this one day

hurting echoWe will know when we arrive of that I ‘m so very sure
I’ve only a few small things to ask
forgive me  for wanting beyond the knowing
when we arrive let it be the best it can be
a  heaven  like this  one today

I know we do not get to pick and chose
if we are lucky  we will reap these  highest  rewards
yet here I sit enjoying this new spring day
greening  fields filled to the edges with old  memory
a blue-bird sky and sun and dogs

The golden retriever  runs the moment his leash
is snapped free the chocolate lab
slowly meanders away
both their noses pinned to the green fields
have you ever seen a dog smile ?

A heaven like this day isn’t too too much  is it ?
with blue birds in the meadow and the geese overhead
restless for the northern lakes
As they float bobbing on   waters
a million years old
take me with you please
a heaven like this one day

I do cherish my hours of alone  I do
when the scent of new seeds grows stronger
the rivulets of melting snow and ice in the woods
finds its way to the  valleys
If only ….. yes If only
a heaven like this one day

There is a new warmth  aloft in  April’s  winds
the beautiful laughter of playing children
two dogs barking beyond  the distant  woods
a scent of someone cooking chicken
a woman  next door is hanging laundry
just a heaven like this one day

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, in poetry, in story perhaps to sort them out and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would we say "Now about me!"... I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ...

Ed, this is a beautiful verse. I do believe your place in heaven will be just as lovely as you wish for. Your poem really touches my heart and the phrasing is great. I love the line “forgive me for wanting beyond the knowing”. I love it all. Yes, I have seen a dog smile – it is a loving thing to see when they are that happy and free.

Hi Ed. I am having a beautiful spring. I love to be outside by the little mountain behind my home. So much nature out there. Have a wonderful evening, dear friend.
