Our Enchanted Evening

Outside I’ve carefully placed a flower arrangement on the table

Underneath a salad plate, a handwritten verse on parchment

Remembering that moment when I held her close, and knew

Every moment from that second forward, would be better

Nothing could come between us, no one could divide us

Carefully I reached into my pocket to feel the security of the ring box

Having the opportunity to ask for her beautiful hand in marriage

And spending the rest of my life in unadulterated bliss and joy

Now if I can only get through preparing dinner without any mishaps

The wine is at perfect temperature and the evening sun is setting

Everything is perfect, just as it should be on this special night

Divine providence seems to have cast a net of security around me

Eleven minutes remaining on the chateaubriand; my heart racing

Velvet napkins, fine china, polished silverware, counting the seconds

Exhilarated at the knock on the door, sweaty palms trying to turn the knob

Not in my wildest dreams imagining a Goddess would walk through my door

I can’t say how the ring appeared as I knelt and asked for her hand

Now and forever; unable to wait any longer; asking that two lives become one

Gleeful acceptance as she stared deep in my eyes…..dinner will have to wait

A lovely romantic verse to melt any woman’s heart. A heart-warming and beautifully rendered piece Ralph. Great Work

Gorgeous piece Ralph. The setup was perfect, the imagery was second to none and like Rasma said the last verse was amazing. Great work.~Paul
