The Yearning for Dusk

The Yearning for Dusk

T

For the fullness of  daylight will never do and mornings
are only for the young
I yearn for the hours of dusk though
the carnage of the day undone

We partake  our glasses and go await the setting
of a sun that begs to forgive
the transgressions of the evening hours
and all that the night can  give

Later to taste the flavor of her grapes
in the wet fullness of trembling  lips
the heat lightning lights her  flesh just enough
to find the curves  of waiting  hips

Of a kiss or two at dusk and the  soft sounds in
the waiting night
I beg that she might remember me forever
and those  memories will do alright

She asks  “Is it okay if I stay for  the night”
I answer her “How do you like your eggs ”
after we swim for awhile in the midnight moon
I  blanket  her shoulders and legs

Now days  memories still the yearning for
promises  made may  have been forgiven
but the  memory of her will never go away
a gift the dusk has given

Sometime in my life, I started to write about my life journey, in poetry, in story perhaps to sort them out and enter them into a place of safekeeping. The soul of the writer is perhaps best described in their words, emotions and thoughts. If these poems or stories touch something inside you then maybe I have succeeded in sharing. I will not write about my self in profile, because self isn't so important in writing. Only the journey in words and the sharing are important. Why would weever say " Now about me !"........I'd rather write about life, nature, serenity ........
