The Trumpster….a Contender or Jester

The Trumpster...a Contender or Jester
The Trumpster…a Contender or Jester

A feeble persuasion,
creating more questions than answers,
and on what premise do we instill our belief,
invest our hopes and rest easy;
for who is this man who stands before us,
arms flailing, promises sweeter than honey,
fire in his eyes, a righteous mind,
bent of resuscitating a broken world?

A saint with a sharp tongue or purely a lunatic,
hard to differentiate,
disregarding laws and the constitution
if they get in the way of his will;
and can he be tempered, even a little,
will he run out of people to vilify,
will he come through as a leader,
or will he be cornered by fate and learn basket-weaving?

More weapons, more power,
and is it appropriate that a president
appear on ‘Dancing with the Stars’,
and in whose hands rest the launch codes,
he alone with his tiny fingers
poised to press that red button;
its a show, a fashion show, but no fake news,
play nicely or be rejected from the sandpit?

Are those around him idiots too,
for no-one tells him to zip it,
not to take on the truth without having an inkling;
and is Vlad his best mate,
are they pen-pals with privileges,
covert vodka and a mock cold war, like before,
or is he just the carrot a danging,
an opportunity too good to be missed?

    Well, he is getting a lot of praise for his first speech to Congress.T began to feel like an American again when listening to Trump’s speech. Now we all wait and see how things go. Well penned verse, Tony.

    Interesting that you choose the American President to write about when you are not living in the United States. Your own PM Malcolm Turnbull, or should we refer to him now as the Turnster, seems to have plenty of turmoil surrounding his role as Australia’s leader to write about…..

    Don’t be upset Ralph, I’ve written about Turnbull till my eyes water. He is a soulless opportunist with no party affiliations at all; what motivates him is his self, alone. The thing is Ralph, the American president has far reaching influence on the world, whereas The Aussie PM, means shit to everybody: we, just 25 million in all. And one does not have to live in America to know what’s going on there. Technology affords a global community and in a sense we see much more than you are shown on many issues. Anyway I digress, Trump is somewhat of an enigma and watching his presidency, fodder for any writer.

    That’s pretty near what I expected you’d say – it really doesn’t take much work to come up with something to write about Trump – the man has no volume control and he loves to stir the pot. Cheers!

    When it pertains to Trump. The democrats of this country are like little children who didn’t get their way. They attack everything with, quote on quote “Fake News,” non-factual statements, and all because their candidate didn’t get elected. Is it the US’s fault that they did not put out a stellar product to compete with the allure of Trump? I think not. His speech while repetitive in nature was a bold statement. One that the political left attacked because he brought out a widow and they claim he used her to further his politics. Whether he did or did not the normal crowd will never know. They attack his cabinet with albeit light weight attacks, stating non-factual evidence to remove certain members. They claim he is an Anti-Semite, although his immediate family members are Jewish converts, and he publicly goes on stating he wants to strengthen ties with the Israeli Prime Minister, so I am confused with how he is an anti-Semite, why? because he called them astute businessmen. Seems extremely petty. They attack him under the wrong premises. I am by no means a staunch Trump supporter but if the media is going to attack him, they need to use factual evidence. The writing was superb as always Tony. Sorry for the lengthy comment.~Paul

      Thanks Paul, yes he gets such crap thrown at him, and the bottom line is he was voted in; get over it and let him do the job. Children is right, they should all thank their lucky stars that Clinton didn’t get in, far more dangerous. Cheers my friend.
