Little Mother Robin in the Meadow

Little Mother Robin …

Little Mother Robin

Little mother robin in the meadow,
Hid your nest well among the sweet flowers.
Do you not fear wild animals will know
From the scent of you and your young babies?
Quiet they are as you search for their food,
Patiently they wait for your return soon,
To feed them well with worms so very good.
Then chirp loudly they will, mouths wide open.

I stand close by wondering what to do,
As your babies are so vulnerable here.
I see a feral cat, or maybe two,
Just up the hill, and not too far away,
I line rocks around your nest carefully,
With a large one balanced safely on top,
With just enough of a small opening
For you to get inside with just a hop.

I walk a distance away, stand and watch,
Waiting to see if you will find your nest.
Soon you came back, looked carefully around,
Then hopped inside to feed babies and rest.
I heard little ones happily chirping,
As you feed them food very fresh and grand.
Did I do wrong to interfere with you?
No, sometimes nature needs a helping hand.

I am an author on TCE and write mainly in poetry and short stories. I have always liked to write. It is important to me that writing comes from my heart and soul. When writing poetry, if I do not feel a spiritual connection to what I am writing on, I will discard it and go on to something I can connect with on a spiritual level. I live in the moment, I write from the past or beyond the veil. When writing fiction I go with whatever inspires me at the moment - it could be funny, sorrowful, romantic or sometimes done with the use of colloquial language from mountain folk or other cultural regions. I began writing content online in 2007, starting with BellaOnline - A Voice For Women, where I was the Native American Editor, Folklore & Mythology Editor, and the Appalachian Editor. I also wrote articles for The Examiner, Daily Two Cents, and Yahoo. I am currently an author on HubPages. Most of what I write takes a lot of research and I love it. Even if it is a fictional story, I will research for accuracy in whatever it takes to make my characters, their era, their location, etc. become realistic to the reader. I hope you enjoy my works. Thank you for visiting.

Animals are a soft spot for me. Like those before me said, always help, it is the right thing to do. And those younglings are indebted to you because of that kindness. You are so right sometimes, nature needs our assistance. Lovely piece Phyllis~Paul
