I Pray for Peace

I Pray for Peace
I Pray for Peace

Iniquitous the surging wages of war
and deadly affronts,
that mark of a world seeking only peace,
yet here we stand in uncertainty’s wake,
the edge of endings but a step to make;
and who will take that final step,
to end the ageless wars and conflict,
to prove we are not worthy
of this, our paradise on earth?

What hope can one have
amid this death and violent strife,
when life is but an expected obsolescence,
bustling populations bursting to be culled,
and food and water not afforded some,
resources long depleted,
poverty all but deleted from minds;
yet survival ends with self in mind,
struggle for family and life’s ongoing?

There is not one cause that unites us,
just a plethora of needs and wants,
that in the end divide us,
humanity fractured like a stone,
from nations, to races, to religions, to beliefs, to family
we all find solace with our own,
and divided it is we alone who struggle for longevity;
so onward on this perilous path we tread,
waiting for the button pushed
to shed our human skin.

Is there hope you ask…always,
but brotherhood has never been a concept of certainty,
just another tide in the cycles
of ebb and flow, of war and peace,
and we in prayers and for our children, release,
ask for common sense to prevail,
above the egos and fortunes that seem to guide our path,
as equity is lost and justice the wrath of nature’s response,
to our flagrant disrespect.

I pray for peace.

    I am with you on this, Tony – I pray for peace for all. All the wars and killing is senseless. What is the purpose? Why is it not clear that we all are humanity and must live on Earth together? So many questions, so many dying, starving, losing so much. Great work, Tony, with a message that all humanity should be working on together.
