Hypocrisy, Politically, Front And Center, For All To See
The bonfires of hypocrisy
Burning bright for all to see
Telling you, then telling me
Just how virtuous they can be
Engaging in similar behaviors
Yet now that they’re out of favor
Rhetoric to make things graver
Pitting you against your neighbor
Shouting out words of hate
Creating yet another –gate
Every deed demands debate
Working hard to devastate
Phantoms, but no smoking gun
Fake news tales are spun
Anonymous as a hit and run
Another’s legacy becomes undone
Wars of words all tied to the -isms
Every action seen as racism
Unfounded cries of fascism
While ignoring facts of terrorism
Talking heads from across the pond
Try to say who did correspond
Reaching hard to find the bond
Mostly just a repetitive yawn
Telling us about immigration
Foreign rules and open-migration
Ignoring laws of sovereign nations
With a false pretense of salvation
Attacking thoughts of nationalism
The “dirty word” of populism
While other nations cling to casteism
Communism and socialism
The working class was left behind
Wealthy leader’s pockets lined
Under the guise of all mankind
Orchestrated by the masterminds
The people’s voices shouted down
Their elected leader called a clown
Character assassination and beatdowns
Media now in complete meltdown
Consequences of fair elections
After years of party defections
Now it’s a full-on rejection
Of globalism and its direction
Criticism despite the gains
Turning keys, breaking chains
Protests and their bloodstains
As the bureaucratic swamp is drained
Dishonesty and daily lies
Unproven dossiers from foreign spies
Marchers mobilized
Making news as they vandalize
People finally starting to see
The hypocrisy is actually jealousy
Both quietly and cowardly
And also orchestrated ostentatiously
They call patriotism bigotry
Those who’d rather friend our enemies
Believe they can because of pedigree
Feigning rights intellectually
Still bitter over their rejection
The nation took another direction
So they continue to raise objections
Spreading vitriol like an infection
Hate keeps growing in the headmasters
Minions of news broadcasters
Falsified weather forecasters
And the elusive global puppet master
While a weakened nation again grows strong
Fed up with the political ping-pong
All citizens welcomed to ride along
“Prosperity for Everyone”, the victory song

This is fantastic, Ralph. Your rhyming scheme is very clever and quite a feat – showing extraordinary skill. I really like the way you called them out so accurately. Well done with the word craft of a master.
Ralph I was actually thinking of writing about politics myself but it seems you’ve covered most of the topics I was going to discuss and quite accurately,i might add. Nice work here.~Paul
Political poetry is a delicate endeavor – there’s a lot of material to pull ideas from but you usually make half the readers angry and the other half applauding – gotta love the two party system.
Beautifully expressed in so many ways Ralph, and so much to think about. You are right, no matter what you right you’ll get both adoration and disdain as politics is personal and people take it as such. Nice work.
