The Dystopian in Utopia – Imagining the Unimaginable Future
I’d like to preempt this piece with a quick narrative to explain it – first, this piece is complex and may require several readings to fully grasp the direction it’s taking. Our world changes at a speed which none can master, nor explain, and with so many pieces in constant motion, it’s easy to lose sight of who we are or want to be. This global force of change is often known as “the machine,” an all-encompassing compilation of all forces with seemingly one goal; to control everyone using a forced conformity. You, as the reader, are the protagonist in this short but intense immersion into the vacuum of rapid technological change. Many of the issues that are dividing mankind are part of this force, and it doesn’t matter which side of which issue you find yourself on, it’s the fact that we are letting the issues divide us that really matters. It’s our differences which define us as people, but it’s our ability to rise above those differences and be the master of technology as opposed to the slaves which makes us human beings. Teetering on the precipice of apocalyptic machinations
Combinations of speculations, fictions, and imaginations
Setting the stage for the protagonist’s different directions
Meanwhile the narrative and terms inject multiple confusions
Propaganda, censorship, militarization, and oppression
All-pervasive methodologies for population division
Problematic social and political practices plus overpopulation
Ecotopian versions of climate changing or data manipulation
Significant declines in non-conforming education
Technological advances driving additional mechanization
Touchpads, keyboards, computer chips, and automation
Rules, guidelines, operating procedures and regulations
Checked, doubled checked, offering everyone overprotection
Production overriding, resource depletion, ignoring conservation
Proprietary self-governance traded for totalitarian capitulation
Feminism, racism, xenophobia, zealotry, and reduced reproduction
Destruction of former definitions, exchanged for new dispositions
Common sense and fantasy, individualism and new creations
Gender non-conforming, surrendering, disguising future implications
Disciplines of science undergoing political reclassification
Psychiatric alienation, parthenogenetic reproduction
Nuclear epimutations, abiogenic hypothecation
Fundamentalist interpretations, pure speculation
Witchcraft, voodoo, astral projection, and divine intervention
Hermeticism, occultism, mentalism, the new ossification
Complacency, obedience, and silence the emerging foundation
Corresponding psychic vibrations explained as a natural extension
Catastrophic coincidences ignored as simple aberration
Bodies, minds, physical interpretations subject to initiation
Quantum mechanics, quantum cognition and parallel comparisons
A prostrated focusing on the speed of emerging information
Nanotechnology, augmented realities, fused to our positions
Robots rising fueled by deep space solar energy connections
Antibodies, antimatter, lunar travel, and quantum teleportation
Utopian expectations undeveloped by human differentiation
Nonsensical ambiguities plague the attempted conformation
Similarities are the expectation all else subject to suspicion
Differences were something once praised in celebration
Humankind must resist surrendering to global politicization

Yes! the “narrative and terms inject multiple confusions” – what a confusing world we live in. This is great work with thoughts to really ponder on, Ralph. Stanza five really intrigues me (well it all does), for I often turn to “Witchcraft, voodoo, astral projection, and divine intervention” when deeply pondering on a subject or issue, such as “Psychiatric alienation, parthenogenic reproduction” – can you discuss and clarify the first term and give your thoughts on the second term? “parthenogenic reproduction” is a scary thing to think about, for it would take love, the most needed and blessed gift in life, away from relationships – in fact would eliminate many relationships. Interesting stuff. Your last line in last stanza is encouraging and well stated.

psychiatric alienation – the feeling of being alone but understanding that you are alone, almost clinical understanding but without the ability to change anything due to the vacuum surrounding yourself.
As far as the parthenogenetic reproduction reference, it seems to be where the world might be heading with all the talk of a genderless society – the only way we could see the human race continue is to somehow evolve into something akin to asexual reproduction
Thanks, Ralph. Okay, the psychiatric alienation makes sense, I understand that. On parthenogenetic reproduction: sadly, this may be true as the only way to see the human race survive. If that ever comes round, the evil could create a whole society of warring terrorists. On the positive side, we could create a whole society of warriors to take the terrorists down. I would not argue with a whole race of pagans and nature lovers. 🙂
I’d certainly be open to returning to the old ways – paganism might sound barbaric to many people, but it’s founded in solid principles like family, honor, devotion, and taking care of the world around us. We just need to convert those social justice warriors one person at a time!

A complex narrative Ralph, well structured and so much to consider. The fact is that technology forces us in directions we don’t completely understand, or perhaps are ready for. The bottom line is it has and continues to divide us on many levels, and that alone is much cause for concern. The sadness is that in complying and moving along with technologies, we may so easily lose the fundamentals, the very purpose and joy of living. Such a well written and thought-provoking piece Ralph.
