Where Have All the Flowers Gone

Where Have All the Flowers Gone
Where Have All the Flowers Gone

Where have all the flowers gone,
that grew in such vivid plenty,
like colored candy to the eye
in nature’s joyous outpouring;
and the shade we sat within, embraced,
under bow and spattered shards of light,
whispering secrets only we could know,
’til sunlight moved to horizons deep within the sky,
then stars did beckon our love to rise
in beauteous rhythms of time.

Each flower, each petal you wore upon your hair,
the many ways my love did flow,
did praise your ever being,
and your smile warm did invite my heart to settle
within your ample breasts, to rest my weary mind,
your delicate fingers upon my brow,
did allow my mind to worry less
and know that I am loved for me,
within this place of flowers,
where time for us did cease.

I sit upon that place still,
the shade now a cold regret,
and where have all those flowers gone,
that adorned our lives entwined,
and spoke as if in approval
of a love beyond our hopeful hearts;
without you the colours pale,
the sky is small and ends at horizon’s door,
and I in heart wish for more
of what love did bless us then.

    A beautiful rendering of nostalgia and love that once was. Very romantic with vivid expression of a special time. Lovely work, Tony.
