Transcending circumstance by decision…
And fall as they may around us,
no fate is determined by numbers,
and hope lost is a resignation, a defeating stance,
when salvation sits quietly upon our shoulder,
expectant and enlivened by invitation.
We may judge circumstance, decide our fate
while fate sits beside, confused,
indeed not reconciled to ending’s pledge,
more open to possibility,
if only we held hope to ransom.
We are not victims of life, rather participants,
and our decree as much of reality as a fated move,
so when despair is pounding upon your door,
when circumstances gather like armies invading,
know you have control.
We have the power to survive,
we have the power to change and evolve,
yet so easily we give up on ourselves,
when life graces us with such gifts
that our soul can transcend the pages of daily life.
