Just One Truth to Free Me

Above,
the sway of life in beginnings echoes past,
the rise and fall of existence in aftermath,
and we just see stars, glimmering lights
doused by heaven’s dark vast eternal plight;
and still my mind in wonder,
seeks beyond those remnant eyes,
where gathered in arrays, gases to suns on parade,
a fascination that betrays my understanding,
where answers kept snug in infinity’s womb,
keep the mystery aloft.
How I love that feeling, an uncertain awe,
the truth one step ahead, my well made bed
that begs to explore, to see beyond horizons,
yet the mystery beguiles
and a rampant mind secures the knowledge best,
not knowing questions in reach of attesting
some cosmic epiphany, a litany of purpose
that awaits our open minds,
with truths that may malign
what we thought we knew.
That empty hole within me,
so begs for some sated promise, some resolution,
to this wonder that consumes me,
and as I peer into the dark void of endless query,
my dreary life that seems so small relents,
as I must abide reality’s vent,
to live on earth and accept this void unanswered;
and so each night I lovingly look to the heavens,
and ask just one truth to free me,
as the world turns.

Beautifully written of our mysterious beginnings Tony..however much science has explained, there is still that void in our knowledge with all the answers and truths yet to be explored and found..I enjoyed reading this very much..thank you so much for sharing..
So pleased you enjoyed it Anjana, thanks for your kind words. Take care and enjoy the holiday season.
You know, Tony, I believe each one of us has a truth within that will free us and answer those questions deep within us. I think this is what we seek most of our life – that one truth that will completely open us to Love, Peace and Harmony. Beautiful verse.
Thanks you Phyllis, glad you appreciated my expression, and I agree, the answers for this life reside within. Take care
