Expansion Without Limits

Expansion of the mind…
The darkness like a sheet of studded velvet,
draws across the closing sky,
and my heart wanders,
memories like warm tufts of breeze
intermittently caress my cooling skin,
and thoughts as if stone obelisks
rise from the sands of my inner mind,
reaching, aspiring to light.
Time beats as if a heart,
pumping the surging moments of life,
contiguous instances of collective experience,
the very facets of gathering thought,
and as I reach up to hold but one,
another assumes its place,
as the echo of beats resound so strongly within.
Thoughts drift like meandering rivulets,
splitting continuously into finer multitudes,
smaller microcosms of reality,
ever moving, beyond sight and imagination,
yet all resounds in time’s arms, in reality’s womb,
as I wander freely,
ever-nearer my horizons in bloom.
And as thoughts expand and diminish
simultaneously,
senses meld and adopt a new perspective,
an outpouring of realisation,
an expansion of acceptance without judgement,
as life and a sentient mind make peace in possibility,
and see beyond the periphery of knowing,
to imbibe even more.
Life: limitless, mind: limitless, possibility: limitless,
yet we live in a world of limits,
or do we?

Good question, Tony. Do we live in a world of limits? I believe any limits we experience or possess are imposed upon us by society and government. A strong example is “political correctness”, which places ridiculous rules on freedom of speech. This and a plethora of rules and laws does give us a world of limits. Yet, within each of us is our own world that has no limitations when spiritual strengths abound. Now, I will be thinking on your thought-provoking verse the rest of the day. Awesome! Thank you.
I have not been too active the last few days and am trying to catch up. A family crisis has pulled me to my brother’s side since four or five days ago. He fell down his stairs and broke his right foot in two places. He is the youngest brother and has over the years become the Patriarch of our family, so when he is out of commission it is odd to not have him always there for us, and we gladly step up to care for him when he needs us.
Sorry to hear that Phyllis, there have been many accidents in my family this year also; its been a rough year. Hope your brother recovers soon and your life settles for the Christmas season. Glad you related to my thoughts and it made you think. Just want to say thank you for being so supportive on the site and for your friendship. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2017. Speak soon.
