As Christmas Approaches
When all is done,
aspirations complete, past all reconciled
and forgiveness accepted for all we’ve done:
all mistakes, all hurt and regret
tucked away within acknowledgement,
what then do we know of life,
what is of most importance?
Love and family are all we need,
for in the end that supersedes all else,
our striving and struggles just an echo of waters past,
and tis love we hold dear,
our family near that defines our lives so simply,
that have enriched us beyond words,
our very foundation in living.
Christmas, a religious celebration,
is to me about family and those whom we love,
sharing a day in one single vision,
to appreciate from where we have come,
and where we are going,
each life unique and independent,
yet choosing to share within the embrace of love.
Happiness is grown from loving and being loved,
and Christmas is a time for acceptance,
for past contentions to fade
and to know what family is, from aging to newborn life,
the same blood coursing through our veins,
an ancestry enriching each new union
and abiding a common ground.
I wish all my friends at TCE a joyous Christmas,
with family and those you love,
and may the new year be blessed
with health and good fortune for all.
